Love over Fear

Confused and restless Fear walked up and down its living room. Fear’s thoughts were racing and so many questions occupied its mind. It was desperate for answers and needed to speak to someone immediately. Luckily, just a moment later Love knocked on the door and wanted to sit with Fear for a while. Fear took a deep breath and asked, “We live in such uncertain times. Why am I so afraid?” Love looked Fear deeply in the eyes and began to speak. “Here’s the thing, you might not want to hear this. But the truth is, nothing but uncertainty is certain. We live in constant change. It is uncomfortable, but necessary. It is the only way for you to grow!”

Fear stared at Love and was a bit confused. “But why do we need a disaster in order to change?” it questioned. Love calmly explained, “Sometimes it is the only way that makes us pause and appreciate the life we have. It makes us aware of all the luck we never saw. Some events happen for a reason. Because when nothing is sure, everything is possible.” Fear gasped and was not certain, if it understood correctly. “But how do I know when to stop and when to keep moving?” it asked. Love answered, “You hesitate too much, I act. You can’t control everything. You need to trust your intuition and get going. You convince yourself that you can’t do something before you even try. Take one step at a time and the leap of faith will guide your way.”

Fear was surprised. “How do you always know what the right thing is to say?” it thought and continued asking, “How do I really know what is true or false?” Love took its hand and slowly started to whisper, “Sometimes there is no right or wrong. All you can do, is to make a choice and see what happens. Don’t be afraid to take a risk, to feel and even fail. Don’t be afraid of new ways to live, of great love or even saying goodbye. Try not to worry too much and always remember – spend as much time with the people you love and do more of what makes you feel alive.” Fear with a smile on its face eventually replied, „Love, now I finally understand. No matter the question, you are always the answer!”
